Myanmar (Burma) 2006
From Yangon (Rangoon), a modern city inching its way towards a better future we cycle to the hills of Kalaw, a secluded mountain top town. Here at higher altitude the temperature is a little more forgiving. Then we ride the road to Mandalay and Bagan where thousands of pagodas still stand.
The people are beautiful and extremely friendly, the country amazingly unspoiled by western influences and life in places continues to go on as it did 200 years ago.
It's a rotten shame that so many continue to be oppressed by a corrupt and self serving military dictatorship.
