Cycling China 2009
When I used to think of China, three things would spring to
mind; The Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square and 1.3 billion
people. Of course, such a rudimentary summation of the
massive nation cannot in truth depict what China is today.
This trip diary follows my (our) journey whilst cycling from
Beijing to Shanghai. We cycle south through Baoding,
Shijiazhuang and Xingtai, then east to Qingdao, and finally towards
Shanghai.

If you thought that the model cities, such as Beijing and
Shanghai, are representative of what China is like, think
again. This trip reveals realities which are far from what
China wants the world to see and does pose a number of questions as
to what state this country will be in some 10 or 20 years from
now.
