On the Mend

Felt pretty good today – my health seems to have improved and the gym workout was on par to what I’m usually capable of. My running stride has become fluid again and my breathing more controlled. I’ve over one week to get ready for the cycling trip so will need to up the training to twice a day.

Felt pretty good today – my health seems to have improved and the gym workout was on par to what I’m usually capable of.  My running stride has become fluid again and my breathing more controlled.  I’ve over one week to get ready for the cycling trip so will need to up the training to twice a day.  Overall I’ve lost 3kg since I’ve been here 1.5 in the last week, although it could be chronic dehydration.

I went into the office but spent most of the day working on the 1st floor – the new Dell machines arrived so they needed to be joined to the network and we had some problems with a few configurations and MSI’s which were misbehaving.  Two new 40kVA UPSs have arrived and we needed to get them into the building.  Unfortunately the lift wasn’t working; apparently they switch it off on the weekends.  This is going to be fun.

Everyone was pretty tired so we decided to call it a day.

Francis invited me out to dinner with some of the new project managers over from Houston.  Dinner was great, although after my fourth mushroom pasta I’m starting to wish for something else.  The menu is rather sparse.  Towards the end of dinner we started to talk about politics and what the US is doing in the world.  Other than myself, Francis and Bill (I think) the other guys were pro Bush and relatively closed minded to the whole war on terror business.  It still amazes me that there are people who apparently travel widely but don’t ever open their eyes to see the world and events around them, or at least are unable to shake public perceptions spurred on by today’s propaganda machine - media.
